At Protrk we have licensed third party CASP (Certified Access Specialist) experts available to carry out CASp Surveys & Certification. We will provide you with clear solutions to help your commercial property and your business become ADA Compliant.
What is CASp?
CASp is short for 'Certified Access Specialist' and it is a term applied to a qualified expert in construction-related accessibility. The Division of State Architect is responsible for certifying each CASp, licensing them to inspect commercial property and grant the owner ‘Qualified Defendant’ status. This provides the property owner with certain legal protections should they be served a lawsuit for failure to be ADA Compliant.
Once inspected, a CASp can either issue a report stating that the property meets all applicable standards, or it will simply confirm the inspection by marking it ‘inspected by a CASp’. This indicates that a list identifying violations and the necessary improvements that are needed to bring the property into compliance has already been issued and are to be scheduled for completion within a reasonable, agreed timescale.
What Does a CASp Inspection Include?
- A full site survey carried out by a Certified Access Specialist (CASp)
- A detailed report listing any violations with pictures
- Advice on how to correct any identified violations
