Doors are one of the most important elements in any construction project as they provide access to your property. It is important to make sure that they provide access to everybody and not just the able-bodied in your community. Protrk Construction can make sure that your entryways meet all ADA Doors Requirements.
ADA Compliant Doors
All of your doors are required to have a minimum clear opening of at least 32 inches with the door open to 90 degrees. However, this is not the only requirement. There are also minimum maneuvering clearances to consider where your doors are not automated or power-assisted. The thresholds at the doorways must not exceed a maximum height of 0.5 to 0.75 inches depending on if they are an exterior or interior door. You must also ensure that floor level changes will be beveled with a slope that falls within the appropriate ADA Doors Requirements.
ADA Door Hardware
It isn't just the clearance aspects that have to be considered when planning accessible doors that meet ADA requirements. Any hardware including handles, pulls, latches, locks and other operational components need to be of an appropriate size and shape to be grasped by a single hand. They also should not require tight grasping or twisting of the wrist to operate them.
We can offer a range of ADA Doors and other solutions to help you meet ADA door requirements, including:
- Automatic Door Operators
- Power Assist Door Operators
- Door Closers
- Sliding Glass Doors
- Custom Door Kick Plates
- ADA Compliant Door Handles
Revolving Doors or
It is important to note that a revolving door or turnstile cannot serve as the only means of access to your building. An accessible door must also be provided adjacent to the revolving door or turnstile in order to meet ADA requirements.
